The Trangia 25 is Trangia’s biggest cook-system, and is great if you need the enclosed, stormproof design, but can be quite bulky for most trips. The Trangia 25 is the biggest stove that Trangia offers, and comes in a number of varieties. This review concerns the ‘lightweight’ aluminium gas Trangia.
The Bottom Line

- All in one nesting system
- Efficiently boils and cooks for 3 – 4 people
- Good in wind and bad weather
- Bulky and could boil faster
- Not cheap

Purchasing
The Trangia 25 cook-set normally costs around £70, this varies depending on what fuel type and finish you go for. You can often find it on sale for a fair bit less.
Performance
The Trangia cook-system covers a wide range of options as far as fuel is concerned. The alcohol burner is the cheapest and lightest, followed by the gas burner, and finally, the multi fuel burner is the bulkiest and most expensive.
This review is only about the gas burner.
Ease of use:
This cook-system; while it may seem quite complicated at first (and it is), but after you’ve conquered the relatively shallow learning curve, it becomes a very elegant system. This is because of how the pots and pans nest together when you start cooking, making it much more stable then most canister stoves.

Cooking Times:
The Trangia is middle of the road as far of cook times are concerned. This is because, even when cranked up fully, the gas burner doesn’t kick out as much heat as most stoves. The enclosed design does somewhat make up for this.
Efficiency:
This is where the Trangia really shines, as this is what it was really designed for. Due to the enclosed design, this stove will be able to barely sip fuel, and still boil an entire pot of water.
Bad weather:
The Trangia also shines in this respect, as when it is fully enclosed, no amount of wind or rain will put out the burner. If you are into bad weather camping, this makes the trangia a very enticing option.
General Comments
This stove is generally very well thought out, which you would expect for the price. It is a bit bulky, especially if you don’t plan on using the various pots, or if you don’t need the bad weather performance that it offers.
If however, you know the weather is going to bad, and are happy to carry some extra weight, this stove is a great option.
